Gutters are a crucial aspect in any good home. They keep rainwater from caking mud and grime on your roof and damaging your home’s foundation, while ensuring that any runoff water ends up in its proper place on the ground. In the long run, this keeps your home intact, and stops eroding soil from surrounding your home and destroying your plants. Having said that, gutters are subject to wear and tear. Eventually, they need to be replaced for your home to stay in tip top shape.
The Problem in Nashville
Our client Chris, a Nashville homeowner, noticed that his gutters were not as up to par as they used to. He contacted us at Simply Gutters right away to take a look and fix the problem.
After carefully assessing the home and its gutters, we noticed some rot on the existing fascia, which is the board along the side of the roof where your gutters sit upon in your home. We also saw that overall gutters, as well as the downspouts and elbows (the pipes that help carry water from your roof to the ground) were both showing signs of breakage, with some dirt accumulation due to age.
After briefing our client on anything that needed approval and additional costs, we decided that the installation of a 6” K style gutter, 3×4” downspouts and elbows, and fascia repair/replacement was needed to get the gutters back to its usual running order.
Brand New Gutter System
The project began with removing the existing gutter guards, gutters, downspouts, and elbows, and finally installing the 6” K style gutters. This type of gutter does not hold more water due to its unique shape, but is less likely to bend or protrude when impacted by force. Its total linear footage also includes inside miters, outside miters, end caps, hangers and accessories. After that, we installed the new 3×4” downspouts and elbows that will do a much better job of carrying water down and around the contours of the house compared to the old ones. We then topped everything off with fascia repair and replacement, replacing the rotting fascia with 1×8” of wood fascia, and giving the new gutters a new and sturdier place to rest on.
All in all, the entire job was a success, leaving our client happy, and his gutters in better shape. This kept not only the rainwater in check, but protected the roof, soil, and overall foundations, leaving a more sturdy, and comfortable home.
